MENTAL HEALTH YOUTH 101

Angela Sorg has developed a program entitled Mental Health Youth 101 to begin the conversations around mental health and mental illness topics. We live in rural communities where access to mental health aid is not abundant, so we need to empower adults to help our youth. We also need to provide support to our adults when youth mental illness is detected to know the proper channels for assistance to occur. This program will offer you baseline identification tools, knowledge on how mental illness can impact our youth, resources for referral when an emerging mental illness issue is noticed, and ways to reduce the stigma associated with mental health and mental illness. We genuinely believe this will be beneficial for you to attend. Please join us Saturday, September 7 in the High School room from 10:00 am-Noon.

Community Life Groups are designed to help you connect and grow with other Brooksiders. Groups offered beginning September 18 are:

Intro - Includes Intro/Discover-This group is designed for people who are new to Brookside and are looking to get connected. The curriculum would cover: the history of Brookside, what we believe and the next steps at Brookside which leads to community groups; Tell Your Story-This group or class is designed for new believers looking to be baptized. In this class we want to take people through soteriology (the doctrine of salvation). This class is also designed to teach people how to tell the story of their transformation and what Christ means to them.; Getting Connected-This class would be to discuss the other offerings at Brookside. It could serve as the next to connecting to a community life group.

Marriage - Five lies that ruin relationships: We’ll define five of the most common lies that have the potential to ruin relationships with those we love. We’ll also uncover the source of quarreling, how our words wound, and how not to make decisions. And together, we’ll ask and answer the question: do wrong beliefs produce wrong behavior? We will discover that when we confront the lies, we believe there is power in knowing and applying God’s truth to our relationships.

Singles - Love, Sex & Lasting Relationships - Everyone desires to love and be loved. The pursuit of "true love" is everywhere you look! It's romanticized on TV and in the movies we watch. Countless books and songs are written about it and hundreds of online dating websites and relationship seminars abound...all of which are designed to "help" you find that special someone to love. So why is "true love" so elusive? Could it be that the picture of love we see in today's culture is nothing more than an illusion? If so, what does real love look like? In this group, you'll discover God's way for finding love, staying in love, and growing in intimacy for a lifetime.

Single Moms - The Single Mom's Devotional: A Book of 52 Practical and Encouraging Devotions - Carol tells her story through 52 devotional readings and shares with the sisterhood of single moms how they can build their family's nest in the protective shadow of God's presence. Single mothers, whether on their own after a divorce or a husband's death, will discover how to find true life in Christ and allow the strength of that inner life to be the compass by which they navigate an unpredictable future.

Discipleship - “Growing to be like Christ” - Spiritual maturity doesn’t happen by accident. The six sessions in this study equip you for the basic habits of spiritual growth: relying on the Holy Spirit, cultivating time in the Bible and prayer, seeing life’s obstacles as opportunities for growth, and partnering with Christians who are committed to supporting your growth. Here is a realistic, practical path to growing strong in faith and Christian character.

Sermon Series - When Jesus Starts Fires – This study of the Book of Acts focuses on the sermon series with discussion over the main points from the series, as well as, questions and a deeper discussion of the Sunday message.

Soul Winning - The 9 Arts of Spiritual Conversation – This study focuses on sharing your faith with others. In a few short weeks you will learn the value of sharing your faith with others in a non-threatening way – for deeper connections and life-changing conversations.

College - 7 Big Questions – This study “Explore God” is a website with credible video and article content for people with spiritual questions and curiosities. What you'll find is an ever-expanding collection of original and curated content from many of the world's best minds, exploring topics about God, the Bible and the meaning of life.
