Many families seek something more than the conventional idea of home life. At Brookside Church, we ask, "What does a Jesus-centered home look like today?"
Building such a Jesus-centered home begins with faith as its foundation. Jesus compared a wise man to someone who built their house on rock, according to Matthew 7:24-26. This means a home where prayer, scripture, and worship are at the core of daily life.
It's not just about our belief in Jesus but about how we live out His teachings daily. Jesus centered-homes display:
- Love and Service. In the same way Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, our homes should be places of love and service to one another.
- Forgiveness and Grace. No one attains perfection. Jesus taught about forgiveness on numerous occasions. A Jesus-centered home values forgiveness as an essential element.
- Community Involvement. Your home isn't an island but part of a larger community. How engaged are you with the church? Your involvement in the ministries of Brookside, your service, your participation in events, all reflect Jesus's call to fellowship.
How often do we let petty disputes disturb our peace? With love and grace at the center, we navigate these moments with more ease.
Building a Jesus-like family involves a wider community:
- Shared Growth. Your faithlessen in the shared experiences of community life, worship, and service.
- Support Networks. Life is full of ups and downs. If a family member encounters hardship, who better to call on than your church community?
- Gospel Impact. Through our relationships and our homes, the transformative message of the Gospel permeates outward. As St. Augustine said, "He who listens to the Gospel, is in turn an evangelist."
At Brookside Church, we want everyone to find their place, to establish roots in Jesus, and to actively build homes that reflect His teachings. It's not about perfection; it's about progress, community, and living out Jesus's teachings together, in humility, love, and grace.
